JK Rowling furiously hits back at Labour MP over attack on Rosie Duffield
The Harry Potter author defended Rosie Duffield after she quit the Labour Party.
JK Rowling hit back at a Labour MP after she attacked Rosie Duffield following her resignation from the party.
Nadia Whittome claimed Ms Duffield, who quit Labour yesterday, had "made a political career out of dehumanising" trans people.
The Nottingham East MP wrote on X: "No matter your views on her stated reasons for quitting, Rosie Duffield has made a political career out of dehumanising one of the most marginalised groups in society.
"She should never have been allowed the privilege of resigning. Labour should have withdrawn the whip long ago."
But the Harry Potter author replied: "Rosie Duffield was one of the few female Labour politicians with the guts to stand up for vulnerable women and girls, while self-satisfied numbskulls like you fought to give away their rights and spaces. TL;DR Keep her name out of your mouth."
Ms Duffield, who has been a staunch defender of women's rights and is friends with Ms Rowling, added: "Stay classy Nadia x."

The war of words on social media comes after the Canterbury MP resigned the Labour whip with an excoriating letter to Sir Keir Starmer.
Ms Duffield criticised the Prime Minister's decision to keep the two-child benefit cap and means-test winter fuel payments amid freebies row over gifts given to him and other senior Labour figures.
She wrote: "Someone with far-above-average wealth choosing to keep the Conservatives' two-child limit to benefit payments which entrenches children in poverty, while inexplicably accepting expensive personal gifts of designer suits and glasses costing more than most of those people can grasp - this is entirely undeserving of holding the title of Labour Prime Minister."

Ms Duffield went on to criticise Sir Keir's management of his party, saying he had "never regularly engaged" with backbench MPs and lacked "basic politics and political instincts".
She added: "The sleaze, nepotism and apparent avarice are off the scale. I am so ashamed of what you and your inner circle have done to tarnish and humiliate our once proud party."
Her letter said she intended to sit as an Independent MP "guided by my core Labour values".
Relations between Ms Duffield and the Labour leadership have long been strained, particularly on the issue of transgender rights.
