Nigel Farage has fuelled speculation that he will stand as a Reform UK candidate after revealing he intends to make an "emergency" General Election announcement today.

The party's honorary president wrote on social media platform X: "I will be making an emergency General Election announcement at 4pm today."

It has prompted fresh speculation over whether he will throw his hat into the ring at the general election after previously ruling out the move.

But do you think Mr Farage should make a fresh bid for Parliament? Let us know in the poll below and tell us more in the comment section.

The former Ukip leader last week confirmed he would not be standing for Reform when the country goes to the polls on July 4.

Mr Farage said he could not campaign both nationally and for one constituency in the six-week timeframe after Rishi Sunak called the surprise summer ballot.

But he has since told GB News he had "huge regrets" about not standing.

The rumour mill is in overdrive that he could make a bid for Clacton in Essex.

Mr Farage has tried seven times to be elected as an MP but not all attempts have been serious, with the most recent for South Thanet in 2015.
