The UK will take part in the European elections alongside other EU member states this week. The vote to elect Members of European Parliament (MEPs) is held every five years - and this year Britain will take part despite voting to leave the EU in 2016. Here’s what you need to vote in today’s UK EU elections.
Do you need your polling card to vote?
While it is recommended that you take your polling card with you when you go to vote today it is not essential.
Voters are advised to take some form of ID with them to the polling station too.

If you are voting by post then you will need to send your vote in time for it to arrive by 10pm on May 23.
Can you vote in the EU elections?
UK polling stations will open today so Britons can cast their vote in the European elections.
You have to be registered to vote in the UK and over 18-years-old in order to take part.
If you are registered to vote you will have received a polling card by post telling you which polling station to attend.
Polling stations are usually in community centres or schools.
UK polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on May 23.
How do the EU elections work?
The EU elections let EU citizens vote for who they wish to represent them in European Parliament.
There are 751 seats in total in European Parliament and the UK has 73 seats who represent 12 different regions.
MEPs are elected using the d’Hondt method of proportional representation.
The d’Hondt method means seats are awarded to parties in proportion to the number of votes they win.
Who will win the EU elections?
The latest YouGov poll which questioned more than 7,000 UK adults between May 12 and 16 found the Brexit Party looks likely to get most votes in this weeks elections.

Brexit Party - 35 percent
Lib Dem - 16 percent
Green - 10 percent
Conservative - 9 percent
Change UK - 5 percent
UKIP - 3 percent
Other - 7 percent
