Rather than jumping into action, the four year old black and white Papillon didn’t make starter’s orders.
Even with loyal handler Melinda Savva trying to urge the pet to attempt the first jump, the dog – known asTinks for short – simply ran off in a different direction.
As the dog flounders, a commentator said: “I’m not sure this is going to be the Papillon’s finest hour, if I am honest with you…
“First qualification for Crufts as well… Let’s just be very kind and say it will be invaluable experience.”

Tinks’ stage fright was quickly picked up by sympathetic dog lovers on social media.
One wrote: “Bless him. He was overawed by the atmosphere and the Tannoy. I've seen him run brilliantly before. His mum still loves him to bits.”
Another Crufts viewer added: "What a shame.
"Felt so sorry for Melinda she tried everything but Tinks was no way doing this.”
While one explained: “When you're that cute, the humans will give you all the treats without jumping and running around like a loon…”
Tinks’ performance was a reminder of another famous Crufts agility fiasco when Olly the Jack Russell went AWOL last year.
YouTube footage of Olly’s escapades went viral when he face-planted after attempting one obstacle only to run off, much to the merriment of Channel 4 commentator Peter Purves who was left in a giggling fit at the terrier’s madcap antics.
