THESE are the appalling scenes reported to be of a crazed knifeman stabbing stray dogs.
The man stabs the dogs repeatedly
Police have set up two task squads to track down the man after at least four strays and a puppy were stabbed near a busy train station.
The black and white film shows a man dressed in shorts, who according to local media was armed with a knife before setting about the animals.
Animal charities have put a £1,000 reward as police attempt to get a detailed image of the suspect.
CCTV footage which has gone viral on the internet, dubs the attacker 'Delhi’s Serial Dog Killer'.
A case was registered the moment we learnt about the incident
According to the Hindustan Times, the killer took 18 minutes to kill the puppy called Brownie and then stab the other dogs.
Police say they have two teams investigating the stabbings which happened near Delhi’s Green Park metro station.
They say a clear visual is being obtained from a close up of the suspect.
A formal complaint has been registered under the Indian Penal Code as well as provisions under the Prevention of Cruelty Against Animal Act.
At first, the police feared all four dogs had died but now say three of the strays are undergoing treatment for grievous injuries.
The man throws the bleeding dog down the stairs
Police officials said: “A case was registered the moment we learnt about the incident. We have the photograph of the man and are trying to trace him. We have printed his photographs, too.”
It is feared the suspect could be a serial dog attacker as there are claims another dog was killed nearby the day after this incident.
A Green Park official said: “Rising numbers of stray dogs has become problem in our locality but nobody supports the act of brutal killing of an animal. It is inhumane.”
