Man dies in car smash caused by ALLIGATOR crossing road
AN ALLIGATOR may have caused a fatal car smash today, road crash investigators believe, before it walked off missing a foot and part of its tail.
Pictures have emerged on Twitter showing the manage led wreckage of a vehicle with an injured around 5-feet alligator among it.
The crash happened at 4am near the Michoud exit of Interstate 10 eastbound in in eastern New Orleans, USA.
FOX 8 reported that a van hit the reptile, coming to a stop in the middle lane. An 18-wheeler behind the van was slowing down when a Mitsubishi Eclipse passed and crashed into the van.

The male Eclipse driver was declared dead at the scene. A female passenger in the car and the driver of the van were taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries.
Emergency workers reported the alligator later walked away from the road 'minus a foot and part of its tail'.
Parts of the US where alligators are common are seeing more incidents with them on highways.
On Monday an eight-foot specimen had to be rescued after getting trapped under a car in Fort Myers, Florida, while it tried to cross the road.
Alana Goodwin told Naples Daily News she pulled over after seeing it crossing , but it got under her car and wedged in.
It was later released by officials.
