Ollie the Springer Spaniel was last seen enterting the water Newton Beach in Porthcawl, Glamogan, Wales on the morning of Saturday, July 17. After becoming increasingly concerned, Ollie's owner contacted UK Coastguard who then paged Porthcawl RNLI at 8.10am to conduct a search and rescue.
Following a search on land and sea for over an over, the lifeboat team stood down asuuming the pooch had returned to shore due to the calm weather conditions.
After a potential sighting of the dog was reported near the cliffs at Southerndown, Vale of Glamorgan, a second search began at 11.31am.
Shortly after arriving at the location, Ollie was found after being spotted by a kayaker, three miles away from where he last seen.
The canine was soon reunited with his owner.

Porthcawl RNLI helm Simon Emms said: "We made best speed to the location and we were delighted to find Ollie safe and well having been spotted and assisted by a kayaker who had been in the area.
"It’s incredible that Ollie had spent over three hours at sea when he was found and was around three miles from where he’d first gone into the water.
"He seemed very happy to see us and enjoyed his ride on the lifeboat back to Porthcawl.'
"The owner did the right thing by contacting the Coastguard. If your dog gets into difficulty in the water go to a place it can get to safely and call it – they’ll probably get out by themselves.
