Amazon Echo update - The one secret hidden feature that every user NEEDS to know
AMAZON'S Echo speaker has plenty of tricks up its sleeve but knowing this hidden skill could actually save your life.
Amazon showcases Echo Dot's capabilities
The Amazon Echo and Echo Dot speakers took the UK by storm last year winning every award going.
This clever speaker is packed full of useful features that can be accessed by simple voice commands.
Using a digital personal assistant, called Alexa, users can ask for news updates, weather reports and even how the traffic is looking on their regular commute.
Alexa also brings access to millions of songs, albums and radio stations.
New skills are being added every day but there's an update that could actually save your life.
Medical help has now been added in some countries with Alexa now able to offer advice should someone have a heart attack or stroke.
Amazon has. launched a new Fire TV Stick
In the US, users can now ask these vital questions including.
“Alexa, ask American Heart … how do I perform CPR?”
“Alexa, ask American Heart … what are the warning signs of a heart attack?”
“Alexa, ask American Heart … what are the warning signs for stroke?”
Because these are emergencies requiring urgent treatment, Alexa first tells the user to call 911 before offering other instructions.
The information is crucial because prompt medical attention can make the difference between life or death, or significant disability, said Robert Neumar, M.D., Ph.D., chair of emergency medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School.
“Any system that can reliably reduce delays in medical care for cardiac arrest, heart attack and stroke has the potential to improve health outcomes,” he said.
Amazon has just launched a new Fire TV Stick
Amazon announced last week that Alexa support is coming to its Fire TV Stick.
The updated Fire TV Stick, which plugs straight into your TV's HDMI port, has just received a major refresh and now includes Alexa - Amazon's clever personal assistant.
This added cloud-based voice service means users can search for things such as TV shows, latest weather and news reports via a new voice-controlled remote.
Alexa can also show the latest football scores, traffic issues and even order a taxi via the TV.
Users can also use their voice to fast forward and rewinding content with a simple phrase, such a "jump ahead two minutes", instantly skipping through content
Along with voice control, Amazon has also made its Fire TV Stick faster with a powerful quad-core processor and upgraded Wi-Fi tucked inside its small shell.
And the new Fire Stick includes a completely redesigned interface that makes finding what to watch even easier.
And even with all the new features Amazon has managed to keep the cost down to just £39.99.
The all-new Fire TV Stick will also be available at Dixons Carphone, Argos, John Lewis, Tesco, Maplin & Shop Direct.
