Google Pixel SOLD OUT – Fans face five-week wait for Google's new smartphone
HUGE demand for the latest Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones leads to major delays across the world - with UK customers also hit.
Google fans could be in for a long wait for their new Pixel device
If you're looking to get your hands on the new Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, you may be in for a bit of a wait.
Retailers around the world are reporting that their stock of Google's latest new Android super-phone are running low, with many selling out already.
The Pixel and Pixel XL are set to go on sale in the UK on October 20th, with Google also shipping out pre-orders that day.
The Google Pixel and Pixel XL are available in three colours
According to estimates from the US Google Play Store, the limited edition ‘very blue’ Pixel model is already sold out.
Both the 32GB black and silver versions are also in high demand, with both showing an estimated delivery time of 4-5 weeks with standard shipping.
Meanwhile, the Pixel XL is completely out of stock in all variants with no indication as to when they will be available again.
Google takes on rivals with Pixel phone, new hardware
UK retailers also appear to be being affected by the shortages.
In the UK, both Carphone Warehouse and EE are promising to deliver the Pixel and Pixel XL to customers who have pre-ordered.
Carphone Warehouse says it will complete orders to customers by October 26th, with EE telling customers to "expect dispatch within 21 days, to you or your local EE store."
However the UK version of the Google Play Store appears to have suspended pre-orders of both devices, which start from £599 for the Pixel and £799 for Pixel XL.
Google has priced its new phone at a similar level to both the iPhone and Samsung's award-winning Galaxy S7 and is clearly targeting tech fans who want a premium phone in their pocket.
The Google Pixel will come with a range of new Android features
Google unveiled its new Pixel smartphones earlier this month at a major event in the US.
The Pixel, and larger Pixel XL, feature a 1080p FullHD AMOLED display made of super-tough Gorilla Glass 4, fast processor and quick charging battery.
There's also a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and premium metal finish.

Express.co.uk attended the Made By Google hardware event and our first impressions of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL are very, very good.
Granted, the industrial design is a little bland – and would be difficult to pick-out of a line-up alongside the HTC 10, HTC One A9, and iPhone 6S. But it is solidly built and feels good in the hand.
There’s no doubt that Android 7.1 is the star of the show here – with the eerily-clever Assistant meaning you’ll never have to Google a question every again. The one-tap access to a Google engineer from the Settings app should provide customers with ease of mind – as will the unlimited photo and video back-up.
