The Samsung Chromebook Pro could be one of its most powerful devices ever
Samsung is set to continue its recover from the Galaxy Note 7 scandal with the launch of a new Chromebook hybrid laptop.
The Samsung Chromebook Pro, which could be released as early at next week, is set to be one of the most powerful hybrid devices around.
Chromebooks, so named because they run Google's Chrome OS software, feature a super-light and slim build twinned with powerful hardware inside.
The Samsung Chromebook Pro will feature an all-new stylus design
The Samsung Chromebook Pro was quietly revealed on the company's Korean website over the weekend, before quickly being taken down, Sammobile reported.
Weighing in at 1.08kg and measuring just 13.9mm across, the device features a 360-degree hinge which will allow the screen to be 'folded' back on itself.
It will sport a 12.3 inch touchscreen display featuring a resolution of 2400 x 1600 pixels.
Inside, there's a 2GHz hexa-core processor (two Cortex-A72 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores), 32GB onboard storage, and 4GB RAM.
The web page listing claimed that the Chromebook Pro would provide ten hours of battery life.
The PEN stylus will slot in to the Chromebook Pro's body
Samsung's new stylus will be seperate from the existing S Pen recently seen in the Galaxy Note 7, with the new accessory simply called PEN.
As with other Chromebooks, the new device will run Chrome OS, but will also run Android apps thanks to Google's recent Play Store expansion.
There's also two USB Type-C ports, headphone jack, and an SD card slot, and Samsung is also offering ad-free, one-year subscription to its AirDroid app.
Galaxy Note 7: Samsung offers replacement phones on flights out of Seoul
Sadly, there's no concrete news on a UK release date or price for the Samsung Chromebook Pro.
Only one website, international retailer Adorama, currently has the device up for pre-order, offering it for sale at $499 (around £410).
Samsung has released several Chromebook devices in the past, and had also delved into the Windows 10-powered hybrid tablets, most recently the Galaxy Tab Pro S earlier this year.
