Sky just slashed prices by 50% for a colossal new deal, here's everything you need to know
SKY has dropped the price of its flagship new satellite set-top box – Sky Q – in a phenomenal new deal. Here's everything you need to know about the bargain.
Sky Q comes complete with a redesigned set-top box, user interface and Bluetooth remote control
Sky launched its brand-new Sky Q service earlier this year with the promise that it could "set your TV free".
The upgraded satellite television service offers a slew of upgrades over the ageing Sky+ HD box and remote.
Sky Q comes bundled with an unrecognisable touchpad Bluetooth remote control, a slimmer set-top that can record four programmes at once – while watching a fifth, as well as tune into Ultra HD 4K shows, sport coverage and movies.
The flagship hardware also comes with a redesigned and more intuitive on-screen menus that blend live and on-demand content.
However this cutting-edge new technology shipped with a high price tag, with some Sky Q subscribers coughing up around £100 per month for the new service.
Now, in a bid to bring Sky Q to more customers, the UK broadcaster is slashing the price of its brilliant service.
The latest deal – which first launched to customers this morning – means customers can experience Sky Q for just £20 per month.
Until now, the cheapest package for Sky Q started from £44 a month. That's a saving of 54.5 per cent.
This new £20 basic package includes a Sky Q 1TB box and access to over 270 channels including Sky Atlantic.
Sky Q prices now start from £20 a month – quite a saving compared to the original £44 monthly cost
There's a one-off charge of £15. It's also worth pointing out that the Sky Q 1TB box does not have as many tuners as its 2TB sibling, and is not able to access Ultra HD content.
Of course, if you want more channels and a multiscreen experience, prices will rise depending on what bundles you add.
But this new deal means you can now get the top-of-the-range Sky Q 2TB box with multiscreen for just £32 per month – a package that would have previously set you back £56 a month.

Although prices have dropped if you want to sing-up for the new hardware, as well as Sky Sports and Movies, you will still face a bill of around £65 per month.
The massive price shake-up is designed to make the different bundles easier to understand.
Sky says it also wants to make the next-generation satellite kit more affordable, and therefore, accessible to more consumers.

Along with the price changes, Sky has also simplified the names of their Sky Q boxes so customers can easily understand the benefits of each – renaming the boxes to Sky Q 1TB Box (previously Sky Q) and Sky Q 2TB Box (previously Sky Q Silver).
Sky says its Q service has been the fastest selling product since HD and its introduction has meant people are watching 69 per cent more on demand content than with Sky+.
