Martin Lewis, the money-saving guru, is inadvertently taking over X (formerly known as Twitter) due to a peculiar "glitch" that has left users both amused and perplexed.

His website, MoneySavingExpert.com, seems to be popping up unexpectedly when some X users attempt to expand tweets, leading to a mix of laughter and confusion on the social media platform.

One user, @largacty1, expressed their bewilderment with a post: "For some reason there's now a sort of 50/50 chance that tapping any tweet to expand it just takes me to the moneysavingexpert website?" A video clip was attached as proof of the odd occurrence.

The glitch isn't limited to Martin Lewis' site; other users have reported being redirected to "the BBC website" under similar circumstances.

Someone else shared: "I used to have this with the National Rail app sending me to an advertiser's page every time I tried to do a search. Something going wrong with their ad provider, by the looks of it."

User @rachlsara also encountered the glitch and feared her claims would seem unbelievable without evidence.

She tweeted: "There's a glitch in Twitter rn where sometimes when you click any picture someone has tweeted it takes you to Martin Lewis Money Saving Experts website and I can't get it on screen recording as it's at random so nobody believes me."

Upon seeing @largacty1's post, she responded with relief: "Hell yeah, evidence!" Another user chimed in with a similar experience: "Omg this happened to me but I thought I just kept clicking the wrong button."

@MoneySavingExp addressed the confusion, tweeting: "Hello, we believe you! We're getting lots of reports of this at the moment - although we're not sure what's causing it as we do not pay to advertise on Twitter/X (or anywhere else at all), but we've raised it with them to investigate. MSE Ciara."
