Own an LG TV? You've just unlocked 8,000 episodes of new shows with the latest update
OWN AN LG TV? A new partnership that resulted in thousands of new episodes becoming available on your telly without the need to connect another streaming box or satellite connection. Here's why...
Reality telly-focused streaming service hayU has arrived on LG TVs – bringing thousands of episodes of some of the most talked-about television, including The Real Housewives, Below Deck and Keeping Up With The Kardashians. hayU is already available on a wide variety of devices, from NOW, Roku and Fire TV streaming set-top boxes, to iOS, Android and Apple TV.
hayU costs £4.99 a month. For that, you'll get unlimited access to its entire library – with no adverts. hayU uploads the latest episode of hit US reality shows on the same day that they're broadcast on American TV, which sets it apart from a number of its streaming rivals. So, if you're worried about spoilers for the latest big reality show – a hayU subscription is an essential purchase.
Like Netflix and Prime Video, subscribers can download episodes to their devices, like iPhone, iPad and Android handsets, to watch offline. That's ideal if you're preparing for a long-haul flight or an arduous train journey. When you get back home, using the same hayU login, you'll now be able to pick-up where you left off in your episode on the big screen, thanks to the partnership with LG.
hayU is available on all LG TVs running any version of the webOS operating system from 4.0 through to 6.0.
The update arrives in the UK as well as 26 other territories today including, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
Talking about the latest partnership, Managing Director of Direct-to-Consumer - Global at NBCUniversal, Hendrik McDermott said: "This has been an incredible year for hayu, with multiple successful launches into new territories and extended distribution globally through partnerships with affiliates and device manufacturers.
"Through this exciting global partnership with LG Electronics’ range of Smart TVs we are extending our distribution to even more devices and making the service even more accessible for reality fans, who can enjoy the seamless and convenient viewing experience of the best of reality TV."
hayU offers more than 8,000 episodes of reality telly content. The streaming platform divides up its wide variety of unscripted shows into a number of categories to improve discoverability, including Home and Design, Dating, Cooking, Fashion and True Crime.
