One thing to ask Alexa ahead of Premier League live streams on Amazon Prime Video
IT'S the butt of many jokes - the offside rule - and if you're still struggling to explain this then Amazon Echo's Alexa assistant is here to help.
Just in time for the upcoming Premier League games on Prime Video, the Alexa voice assistant can now help explain the offside rule and other laws of the beautiful game. If you have an Amazon Echo or other Alexa powered device, then all you need to do is ask it to explain a different aspect of the game for a rundown on how it works. Simply asking questions such as 'Alexa, explain the offside rule' or 'Alexa, explain the handball rule' will give you an explanation of these parts of the referee's rulebook.
And Alexa is getting this information straight from the horse's mouth, with details on the laws of the game taken from the official International Football Association Board (IFAB).
This new Alexa feature, which Amazon has cleverly dubbed VARlexa, arrives just in time for a bumper load of Premier League games being shown on Amazon Prime.
The next Premier League game being shown on Amazon Prime Video is Leicester vs Brighton, which takes place on Sunday, December 13.
But in total Amazon are showing 23 Premier League games, including blockbuster clashes such as Liverpool vs Tottenham, Manchester United vs Wolves and Everton vs Manchester City.

Speaking about the new Alexa referee feature, Eric King, Director of Alexa Europe said: "By teaming up Alexa with experts in the laws of the beautiful game, we’re giving fans instant assistance on the official rules as they watch Premier League football on Prime Video – by simply using their voice.
"By increasing Alexa’s sporting knowledge, we continue our aim to make customers’ lives easier by keeping them up to speed with the latest information using voice-technology."
To coincide with the release of this new Alexa feature, Amazon also conducted a survey asking 2,000 football fans about their knowledge of the ref's rulebook.
And according to the results of the survey, two thirds (66 percent) of respondents admitted to not fully understanding the rules of the game.
While 82 percent said they thought they would enjoy football more if they had a better understanding of the rules, and 85 percent said they felt it would be an advantage to have instant and reliable access to the laws of the game during live broadcasts.
