Sky Q remote pairing: How to pair your Sky Q remote
SKY Q is the premium platform offering one of the best ways to watch TV right now. Here is how to pair your Sky Q remote control.
Sky TV: Netflix comes to Sky Q in service upgrade
Sky Q has grown with an enviable range of new tech since its 2016 launch. The service offers 4K video and Dolby Atmos audio, integration with Netflix and Spotify, and extensive viewing options across smartphones and tablets for watching content during the commute. Another attraction is the cutting-edge remote control – Express.co.uk presents everything you need to know about your Sky Q remote.
How to pair your Sky Q remote:
New Sky Q users may find their remote control is initially unresponsive - in which case follow these simple steps.
First, check whether your remote is paired by pressing the Voice button.
Should you immediately see a message on the screen, the Sky Q remote control is paired.
If nothing happens, point the remote at the Sky Q box, press Home, then simultaneously press 1 and 3.
Do this until you see the light at the tip of the control flash.

Now follow the instructions which will appear on the screen.
Press the touch buttons to scroll through the Menu options and tap the middle button to select an option.
If you have a Touch Remote and you prefer to swipe to move around, you can turn Touch Control on or off to swipe instead of pressing.
Press Home then go to Settings, Setup and then Remote Control.
Now choose Sky Q Touch Remote and press the middle button to toggle it on or off.
Note - if you cannot see this option, you do not have a Touch Remote.
Other top Sky Q tips:
Download 4K as standard: You can make sure you receive the full UHD experience by going to Settings, Setup, Preferences, On demand default download format and setting it to UHD.
If your chosen format is unavailable for the show you wish to watch, the next best format will be downloaded instead.
Eco Mode: Sky Q’s recording smarts means the box always needs to use a bit of power.
You can, however, save energy by making the box go into standby at night, or whenever you’re not using it.

Watch TV on the go: Watching TV while out and about is one of the main attractions of Sky Q.
All that is required is the free Sky Q app and you can watch live and on-demand TV wherever you have a wireless or 3G connection.
Those at home with the Sky Q can also use Sky's Fluid Viewing feature, allowing you to start watching something on your main TV and finish it off on your device.
Watch Netflix on Sky Q: You do not need to sign up to Sky’s Ultimate On Demand package to use Netflix on your box.
Those already with an account can log in to as normal and use as they are on any other streaming box or smart TV.
However, Netflix shows will not appear in your recommendations alongside Sky ones, for example, but use the search button on the remote and it will bring back results from both catalogues, you just need to toggle between the two lists.
Record shows: Sky’s On Demand catalogue is phenomenal, but some TV shows are only available on the service for a limited time.
You can record shows to your Sky Q hard drive, where they’ll be stored until you delete them, with no expiry date worries.
Simply choose your show from the programme guide and press the red “R” button on your remote.
This will set a series link, meaning Sky Q will capture the entire series for you to watch whenever you wish.
