Google Pixel 3 preview hints at 'active edge' feature
The Google Pixel 3 is set be the flagship phone for those used to the Android operating system.
Camera enthusiasts surely will not be disappointed, as previous Pixel releases had the best cameras in the business.
Camera improvements are always expected on a new device, and this year’s release will be no different – expect this model to feature a new Google Lens and AI tech.
The Pixel 3 will also boast a dual-lens front-facing camera capable of better wide aperture blur mode, and one of its lenses will be wide-angle.
And the front-facing camera will also apparently have a mysterious “Super Selfies” feature, although details remain sketchy about this.
Pixel fans can also expect the screen quality to have an upgrade, which an impressive feat considering the Pixel 2 XL’s high quality screen.
What is the Google Pixel 3 release date?
We now know the new release is arriving on October 9, as Google has teased an event on that date.
Although the Pixel 3 is not mentioned by name, the teaser prominently features the number 3, and the tech giant has also splashed a big 3 up on its website, leaving no-one in any doubt we will see it soon.
The Pixel 3 has also been certified by various agencies, most recently the Taiwan’s National Communications Commission, adding evidence that a launch is impending.
Google is set to simultaneously release the Pixel 3 XL and the Google Pixel Watch running Wear OS, the new name for Android Wear.
The Google Pixel 3 price is a little less certain due to an industry-wide price hike in the last year.
The previous version cost £629 ($649) when launched, and it’s likely the next version will cost a little more.
The phones will come in white, black, and mint, according to photos teased on an official Japanese Google site.
These are not dissimilar to the colouring schemes Google opted for in the past.
The design on the rear of the phone resembles the Pixel 2, with a two-tone finish and a fingerprint scanner.
The Pixel 3 will reportedly have a 5.4-inch screen and dimensions of 145.6 x 68.2 x 7.9mm, with the phone widening to 8.6mm where the camera sticks out.
Sources also claim at least one Pixel 3 model will have a notch, and that it will use an OLED screen provided by LG.
Pixel 3 screen protectors for the two phones have also supposedly leaked.
