Downton Abbey tops list of Brits' fantasy holiday homes
DOWNTON Abbey heads a list of fictional places British people would most like to go on holiday, according to a new survey.
The home of the critically acclaimed ITV drama is the pick of fantasy locations ahead of Bilbo Baggins' Hobbit Hole and Batman's Wayne Manor.
When choosing a real property most Brits would like to visit Balmoral Castle, Queen’s official Scottish residence, followed by Buckingham Palace.
Kate Stinchcombe-Gillies, from holidaylettings.co.uk said: "The royals have become more aspirational again thanks to the Kate Middleton effect."
Other fictional locations chosen include Hogwarts from the Harry Potter series and Doctor Who's Tardis.
Ms Stinchcombe-Gillies, from the company who commissioned the research, added: "These results go to show that we’re still attracted to high-end places but they need to have a touch of class and sophistication."
The services most people wanted to be offered was a personal chef, followed by a housekeeper and a massage therapist.
