Condensation is a leading cause of mould in homes, particularly during the chillier months.

Mould and mildew, kinds of fungus that flourish in damp settings, are not only a blight on your home's aesthetics but can also wreak havoc on interior spaces and, if neglected, substantially reduce your property’s value at sale time.

Managing indoor condensation levels is key to keeping mould at bay. Windows often serve as condensation hotspots, even in homes outfitted with double or triple glazing, leading to the familiar sight of water beads forming on the inside surface of windows come morning time.

It seems there’s a buzz about a miracle product cleaning fans swear by for zapping away window condensation permanently.

Kymberley Folliard reached out to a Mrs Hinch cleaning group on Facebook, lamenting: “Window condensation. How do you all manage to wake up every morning without it?” She delved further into her predicament: “It’s on every window at the front of my house and it’s quite bad.”

Purchasing a dehumidifier for each room was off the table for Kymberley. Kymberley’s plea garnered a flood of responses, with numerous fellow Mrs Hinch followers chipping in with their two cents.

Charlotte Whiting stepped forward with a simple fix that wouldn’t cost Kymberley a penny. She mentioned: “I don’t know if anyone’s put this. But when I had this it was really simple. There are little vents in the window frame. Once I opened these I didn’t have it anymore.”

Kayleigh Windsor advised: “We’ve had this recently and I’ve found leaving windows on the latch all the time really helps. We’ve also bought some of the small dehumidifiers and have sat them on the windowsills.”

While many tips included the use of dehumidifiers, they’re noted to be pricey.

Yet Chelsea Rose Evans divulged her experience with budget-friendly damp removing solutions, particularly the interior dehumidifier crystals from Amazon, revealing: “See them £1 or £2 dehumidifiers they work a treat!”

“And just like that,” she added, “I had this problem every morning without fail in my two-bedroom apartment and put one of them on every windowsill and it never came back again.”

The affordable solution can be found not just online but at popular stores such as Poundland for 80p, at Asda for £1.25 and at The Range for £1.49.

Barbara Schlichting shared another clever hack: "I had this problem in a house and someone gave me this tip and it works!

“Put a tiny drop of washing-up liquid onto a cloth and rub over the condensation, after a few minutes it disappears.”
