Children are notoriously untidy its a real heart-sinker to splash out on new furniture only to watch it get trashed with stains, grubby hand marks, and all sorts of filth.

Yet, one crafty mum has let slip her secret for safeguarding her settee against the chaos of kids, and its stunningly straightforward but brilliantly effective at protecting your precious couch.

On TikTok, under the handle @grace8ruce, mum Grace utilised the voiceover "Show me the life hack that you randomly saw one day that is now an unconscious standard practice in your life".

Grace couldn't help but grin as she revealed her top trick to fellow parents, nudging them to try it out.

The smart hack displayed was captioned: "POV: Using waterproof mattress covers to protect your sofa from the kids", winning rave 'genius' reviews from viewers, reports the Mirror.

She slipped the mattress cover snugly over the bottom cushions before artfully draping a throw over it to seamlessly blend it into her existing home aesthetics.

Finishing off by placing back the pillows and sitting herself happily, Grace admired the transformation.

Her TikTok post summed it up with: "Standard, they get all kinds of bodily fluids and drinks everywhere".

Bargain mattress protectors start at a mere £8 from Dunelm or can be nabbed for £14 at Argos.
