Nowadays people are learning all kinds of things on social media.

Just recently, foodies discovered what one of the iconic Haribo sweets is really meant to be – and it's not a key.

And now it so happens our friends on X, formerly Twitter, are mind-blown after learning what the hole in a special key is supposed to be for.

In a post on the Today Years Old account, which boasts 1million followers, the page wrote: "How old were you when you discovered what this is for?"

Since it was shared, it garnered a massive 1.6million views with 7,500 likes and hundreds of comments. Now have you ever wondered?

In the video, it shows the special key which is often used as a tool for drilling through wood. And in order to complete a perfect circle, you need the hole to allow you to draw the shape with ease.

It's basically like a compass you use for a maths lesson, but for a DIY job. Mind-blowing right?

The clip demonstrates how it's beneficial for such situations as the person completes the job rather simply with the circle.

We don't know about you, but is there a more perfect circle you've ever seen in your life?

It seems social media users were also stunned by its hidden use after hundreds rushed to the comments section.

One wrote: "Well, it was today. So that's how old I was."

While another added: "About 15 seconds into this video." And a third admitted: "To be honest, today only learnt."

Meanwhile a fourth chimed in: "My age as of this very moment! I never knew about this." And a fifth said: "What? No way!"

They do say, every day is a school day...
