How often do you clean your skirting boards? It's not a job that's particularly high on many to-do lists, but given that they're so close to your floors - something that should be regularly cleaned - you would think that they get a lot more attention than they actually do.
Skirting boards attract dust at a rate that few other places in the house manage to, but they can be a pain to clean. No one wants to get down on their hands and knees to wipe them down with a damp cloth, and using the smaller attachments on your vacuum never seems to get them as gleaming as you would expect.
But what if we told you there was a way to pick up the dust on your skirting boards without any of the hassle of bending down?
According to one TikTok user, there's a "life-changing" hack you can use to clean the fiddly areas of your home with your vacuum in a way that actually picks up the dust - and leaves your home smelling fresh at the same time.
Nicole shared a video on TikTok in which she said all you have to do is take a "dryer sheet" and attach it to the end of the thin nozzle attachment that comes with your vacuum using a hair tie. She explained: "The single best hack I've learned in 2024 is this, and it's going to change your life. Take your vacuum, whichever one you have, take this little attachment and put it on the end.
"Now take a dryer sheet and secure it onto the end with a hair tie, and then use this to clean your baseboards. Not only is this going to clean your baseboards but it's going to leave a nice fresh smell.

"It also leaves this waxy film on your baseboards which helps prevent things from sticking in the future. This was so effective and I got so much dust and dirt off - this is the best cleaning hack I've ever used."
And in the caption of her video, Nicole stated she "never wanted" to clean her skirting boards until she found the hack, and now it's less of a chore than ever before.
Dryer sheets are commonly used to reduce static, soften clothes, and add fragrance when sticking your clothes in the tumble dryer. You can pick them up for around £2.50 in Tesco for 40 sheets, or on Amazon where a "mega pack" of 408 Lenor sheets will set you back £34.10 - making one sheet just 8p.
Commenters on the video were also blown away, with one person agreeing that the hack truly was "life-changing".
