Blocked drains are frustrating, smelly, and difficult to deal with, especially if not dealt with before the issue gets out of hand.

Fortunately, a TikTok creator known as @ouisaucy has shared an easy and free hack to resolve this common problem that will completely revolutionise your cleaning routine.

The creator’s video quickly went viral, attracting hundreds of comments from viewers who have successfully tried the hack themselves.

In the video, a sink with a seemingly invisible blockage is shown. Instead of calling a plumber, the creator demonstrates placing their hand over the drain and rapidly moving it up and down, mimicking the action of a plunger.

After a few attempts, the water begins to drain smoothly with minimal effort, proving to be an effective fix for the Tiktoker.

Other social media users seemed to have also tried and tested the hack with some success, taking to the post’s comments section to share their relief.

One user said: "I cannot tell you how grateful I am!" Another added: “Absolutely works! Family looks at me like I'm crazy for doing this.”

A third typed: “Stood there for about 35 minutes trying to figure out what to do and I tried two pumps of this and it's unblocked!”

Jennifer Shaw, a specialist at Plumbworld, told the Mirror that this is an excellent initial approach to try and clear a blockage on your own before seeking professional assistance.

She said: "This is actually a very useful way of aiding small blockages along. Your hand essentially acts in the same way as a plunger and will unclog small bits of debris that may have got caught in the pipes.

"Most of the time, this method should work but if you’re still having trouble then using a drain unblocker or calling a professional might be the only option.

"Another easy way to help unblock a drain with just the use of household products is simply mixing one-third of a cup of vinegar with one-third of a cup of baking soda. When it starts to fizz, quickly pour it down your clogged drain and it should do the trick

"It's incredibly important to keep your drains clear so it is worth getting yourself a plughole sieve to stop things going down the plughole that shouldn't.”
