Air fryers ‘don’t need scrubbing’ as grease ‘melts off’ in 5 minutes with ‘godsend’ item

Rather than scrubbing your air fryer within an inch of its life, cleaning enthusiasts have shared a "godsend" item that removes all the hard work - and it's pretty cheap.

Air fryers can only perform to the best of their ability for a long time if they are kept clean.

Ditching the traditional scrubbing method by using certain cleaning products on the air fryer basket is a blessing, particularly for those looking for easier options.

On the popular Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, Yvonne De Burgo inquired: “Any tips on cleaning the solid metal basket in my Ninja air fryer that also roasts, bakes, and dehydrates?

“Please don't suggest plain elbow grease as I am elderly and disabled so my elbow grease has disappeared.”

Fans of Mrs Hinch recommended swapping old-school scrubbing for the Elbow Grease All-Purpose Degreaser spray to tackle the job.

Sarah Wicks recalled: "When I came to the UK I thought elbow grease was just work harder, now I’ve discovered that Elbow Grease is a product and it’s amazing for this job.”

Patricia Skelton shared her experience: “We found it hard to get grease off the walls of our air fryer at first. We bought some Elbow Grease solution, and then it all just melted off so I don’t need to scrub anymore.”

Brenda Close advised: “I buy a bottle of Elbow Grease from Poundland, it’s brilliant for cleaning stubborn stuck-on food from anything and everything.”

Craig Williams praised the product, saying: “Elbow Grease is amazing for getting rid of grease off of stuff and it’s cheap as chips.

“I always found the air fryer basket had a film of grease after washing. Now I use that product and no film left at all. An absolute godsend.”

Sharing an image of the Elbow Grease spray, Carrie Rapson advised: “Spray on, leave for five minutes, and then wipe off.”

Other Mrs Hinch fans expressed their preference for simply using hot water and washing up liquid to clean their air fryers.

Shirley Sutcliffe suggested: “Soak in boiling water with dishwashing liquid and use a sink brush to clean while water is still hot - not much effort required, just did mine.”

Carol Jones shared: “I do mine after each use so it's easy to clean. Just hot water, washing up liquid and a pan scrubber.”

Trish Clark countered: “It’s non-stick so don't need scouring, just soak it in hot soapy water each time you use it and just wipe it down to dry.”
