Lynsey Crombie, ITV's Queen of Clean, has divulged her top cleaning tip for getting your washing machine gleaming and 'ready to tackle more laundry'.

Your washing machine is undoubtedly one of the most hardworking gadgets in your home - it deserves a bit of TLC. Whether you're swamped with family laundry or living solo, the relentless cycle of loading and unloading can seem never-ending.

But remember, keeping your washer in tip-top shape is crucial for that fresh, clean scent we all love on our clothes.

If you're scratching your head over how to spruce up your appliance, Lynsey Crombie, affectionately dubbed the Queen of Clean from her regular spots on ITV's This Morning, has crafted a TikTok tutorial.

She shared the simplest way to give your washing machine a thorough eco-friendly cleanse using just two household items.

To kick things off, Lynsey suggests flinging open the washing machine door and giving it and the seal a good spritz with "white vinegar to remove dirt build-up". Then chuck in 500g of soda crystals straight into the drum, and "run the hottest wash cycle".

To finish off, Lynsey added: "After the cycle, if you notice any residue, run a quick rinse cycle."

For those battling with a particularly grimy washing machine or one that's been neglected for some time, cleaning guru Lynsey Crombie has a potent tip up her sleeve. She suggested: "Approximately 50ml of white vinegar into the detergent compartment or directly into the drum."

"Voila! Your washing machine is sparkling clean and ready to tackle more laundry," she gushed.

While these household staples are likely already in your kitchen, they won't break the bank if you need to stock up. Conveniently available at your local supermarket or online, a 2x1kg pack of Dri Pack Soda Crystals is priced at £5.99 on Amazon, and a 5l bottle of White Vinegar also stands at £5.99 (at the time of writing).

Lynsey reveals that running the hot cycle will cost a mere 10p a bargain for such an effective maintenance hack.

Shockingly, appliance giant AEG reports two-thirds of Brits neglect their washing machine maintenance, with a staggering one in five never cleaning their machines at all. While expert consensus recommends a thorough cleanse every one to three months, the precise interval should align with usage frequency.
