Cleaning your home while making it smell amazing is easy thanks to a two-in-one hack that uses just your vacuum and your favourite scent.

If you’re planning to vacuum, grab a cotton ball or a small piece of tissue paper and add a few drops of your essential oil of choice — lavender smells fabulous.

Place the scented cotton ball into your dust canister and start vacuuming all over your house.

The scent of the essential oil will be released as you clean, spreading a pleasant aroma throughout your home.

This simple trick not only freshens up your space but also makes vacuuming more enjoyable as you will know your home will be left as good as new after.

However, please note that some essential oils can be harmful to pets and proper research must be done before trying this method.

Oils such as cinnamon, citrus, clove, eucalyptus, lavender, oregano, pennyroyal, peppermint, pine, sweet birch, tea tree, thyme, wintergreen, ylang-ylang, yarrow, juniper, and anise should be used with caution.

Meanwhile, a professional cleaner recently shared some tips on TikTok that she regularly uses on the job, including how to clean your bathroom and leave it smelling great.

There are different methods to leave your bathroom looking spotless. For instance, you can use baking soda in drains to eliminate foul odours.

@jetlagremedy said the most important tip when it comes to cleaning your bathroom surfaces like the sink and countertop is making sure the spray sits for a few minutes before wiping it off.

“This allows the spray to really set in and lift any dirt and grime, making it easier for you to then wipe up,” she said.

When it comes to wiping up the grime in your sink, she said a hard bristle brush will work best. It can help dislodge any residue that might clog the drain.

One thing that helps with bathroom smell is making sure the drain of your sink is clear. She said to unscrew the lid of the drain to make sure you get it completely clean.

You can also dab a little essential oil on a rag and wipe it on your countertops for an extra scent boost, but once again, be mindful of oils that can be harmful to animals.
