Martin Lewis reveals nationwide mistake people are making in shocking EHIC update
WITH just weeks before peak holiday season begins, Martin Lewis has broadcast an important message on EHIC cards for everyone planning to travel round Europe this summer.

Speaking to Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on This Morning, Martin revealed a number of tips to help people save money on their holiday.
Alongside top tips including paying for car hire before you get to your destination and whether you should take out pounds or the foreign currency at ATMs abroad, Martin revealed the importance of getting or renewing a EHIC card for European trips.
Many people are unsure on how Brexit has effected EHIC card, but Martin said: “These haven’t gone yet. They’re still valid now and until Brexit and probably a bit after.”
But he added the number one issue people are getting wrong with EHIC card is checking its validity.

According to Martin, millions of people across the UK are carrying out-of-date cards.
He said: “If you look at the bottom of the card, there’s the date which says when it’s valid for.
“Many people are carrying an invalid card.
“Go check now, and you can get it done pretty quickly - it usually takes two to three days.

“Do not pay for it. Beware of search engines on this. Go to the NHS website and go get it renewed.
“Every member of your family should have one.”
EHIC cards are a government scheme which gets you free or discounted medical cover in EU state hospitals.

He says these five debit cards, not credit cards add three per cent to the cost of your purchases and charge for cash withdrawals.
They also charge up to £1.50 per transaction.
He also recommends people pre-plan airport parking - the sooner you book parking, the cheaper it is.
