Non-essential shops are to open in England on Monday, April 12, next week. These include 55 more Poundland stores, meaning that all 84 of the retailer’s shops that went into hibernation in January will be open once again.
After reopening 29 stores in February, Poundland will reopen a further 55 shops from Monday next week.
The retailer announced this week that it will also be extending its grocery range.
Customers from next week will find more “day-to-day brands” in shops, said Poundland, such as Nutella, Marmite, and Old El Paso.
Additionally, frozen and chilled food ranges, which Poundland started to introduce to stores in October last year, have now reached 130 branches across the UK.

Most of the 55 Poundland stores to reopen from next week are in England, while two are in Wales.
Twelve of the 55 stores are standalone Pep&Co shops that sell clothes for men, women, and children, as well as homeware.
A further six Poundland stores in Scotland are set to reopen on April 26, which is when the Scottish Government plans to ease lockdown restrictions in the country.
This means that all 84 of Poundland’s stores that were forced to close from January this year, will start to open again from next week.

Poundland also said that it plans to introduce a new store opening programme, which would see 25 to 30 new branches launched in the UK and Ireland by September this year.
By opening new stores, the discount retailer hopes to create 250 new jobs.
It will also continue to roll out more frozen and chilled food aisles in shops.
The locations of six new stores have already been revealed, which are Armagh Spires Retail Park, Aberdeen, Broxburn, Cowes, Cookstown and Arnold.

Poundland Managing Director, Barry Williams, said: “It is fantastic news that our high street neighbours are preparing to get back to business.
“Not just other retailers, but the cafés, gyms and hairdressers who make our town centres the vibrant places people love.
“We’ve missed you and are pleased you’re coming back.”
Mr Williams continued: “We know too that many will be making their first tentative steps back into their town centres after being away for some time – we can’t wait to welcome them and say hello.
“Come see how we’ve changed.
“We’re cracking on with our transformation programme and our investment in new stores, refurbishments, new ranges and distribution.
“With the challenges faced by high streets, that’s good news for our customers, our colleagues and our communities.”
Poundland closed 84 stores from January this year after reporting an 80 percent drop in customer visits.
However, the rest of the retailer’s stores remained open due to it being classed as essential, since it sells food, medicine, and other important items.
