Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 54, was born Sophie Helen Rhys-Jones in Oxford back in 1965. Having grown up in Kent, she later trained as a secretary, before beginning her career in public relations. This included working for four years at Capital Radio. She also worked as a ski representative in Switzerland, as well as spending a year travelling and working in Australia.
She first met her now-husband Prince Edward, 55, while working at Capital Radio.
At the time, the royal had been dating her friend.
The duo’s paths crossed again, at a charity event in 1993.
It was soon after this meeting when they struck up a romance and began dating.
Fast forward six years, and Sophie and Prince Edward announced their plans to marry - in January 6 1999.
