Greggs announces major new sausage roll change across 2,700 UK stores
Greggs has made an exciting new announcement with a major change coming to its menu for sausage roll fans.

Greggs has made a major menu update across its stores in the UK, with a new product launching this week. Fans of the iconic sausage roll will be treated to an alternative with fewer calories as the beloved British bakery chain launches its chicken roll. Like the sausage roll, it will be comprised of meat encased in a flaky pastry, but it will be chicken instead of sausage meat. Greggs fans currently have the standard sausage roll and the vegan sausage roll to choose from, with the chicken version available in Greggs stores nationwide on Thursday, April 9.
The brand new chicken roll will be available for £1.35 in stores and through delivery via Just Eat, Uber Eats, or through Click + Collect on the Greggs App. The chain is celebrating the launch with a unique retro experience in Soho, London, where fans can visit a "one-of-a-kind" retro VHS Video Store on Wednesday, April 8. The space was once a speakeasy, and visitors will be among the first to try the new Greggs chicken roll before it becomes available in stores.

"They say the best things come in threes, and our iconic roll trilogy is no exception," a Greggs spokesperson said.
"We’ve given our 'new chick on the block' the ultimate A-list treatment to ensure it’s a blockbuster hit with fans across the nation. We can't wait for our customers to experience the Chicken Roll as the ultimate headline act of our flaky franchise."
Greggs currently has more than 2,700 stores across the UK, and regularly introduces new permanent and seasonal food items to its menu. It recently launched its spring menu, featuring a host of new items for Greggs fans to try.
The menu launched on March 19, with freebies given out in Greggs stores across the UK. New menu items include the Tandoori Chicken Sandwich, priced from £2.45, and the Cherry Lemonade from £2.75.

Bakery chain bosses recently revealed plans to introduce Greggs vending machines around the UK, allowing customers to quickly grab their favourite Greggs treats. However, it has not yet revealed exact dates or locations for these vending machines.
It comes after the chain opened bite-sized shops across the UK, designed to make it easier for people to grab their favourite Greggs bits on the go.
The Greggs sausage roll recently went up by 10p to £1.35. The chain said the increase in National Insurance contributions and minimum wage, and the net zero packaging tax, are the "main drivers" in the 5.5% rise in its costs.
