2017 Ford Raptor goes on sale in the UK - but it costs the same as nine Ford Fiestas
THE 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor has arrived in the UK - but we’re wondering whether or not it should have.
The mighty Ford F-150 Raptor pick-up truck arrives in the UK
Five examples of the latest F-150 Raptor have arrived in the UK, with three already being acquired by long-standing clients.
Ford’s ‘super truck’ has a powerful 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine producing 444bhp and 510lb ft of torque, with a 10 speed automatic gearbox.
This allows the Raptor to accelerate from 0-60mph in 5.0 seconds, which is remarkable for a car of this size.
Despite its lightweight aluminium body, it weighs two and half tonnes.
It also has Fox Racing shock absorbers, which give it improved off-road ability.
Dubbed as the ‘super truck’ it has an on the road price of £78,000.
However, UK customers that want a right-hand drive version of the Raptor can pay £36,000 to have it converted by Sutton Bespoke’s specialist programme.
So if you want a right-hand driver version of the pick-up truck, you will have to fork out £114,000 - for that price you could buy a fleet of Ford Fiestas.
In addition to this if you want to boost the power of the truck’s V6 to 590bhp you’ll have to fork out another £10,800.
The ginormous truck will cost £78,000 to buy and an extra £36,000 to convert it right-hand drive
There are also a range of optional factory extras available to add to the Raptor which include: 10-way electrically adjustable and heated seats, dual-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera system, twin-panel ‘moonroofs’, and a trailer towing package with Ford’s Backup Assist technology.
The two models available to view by appointment at Clive Sutton’s facility in St John’s Wood, London are a SuperCab in Lightning Blue and a Super Crew in Shadow Black.
The F-150 Raptor seems to be a car that doesn’t make sense in the UK, and one you will have to pay a lot of money to try to.
