Michael Knowles is the Home Affairs and Defence Editor at the Daily Express. He specialises in stories on immigration, people smuggling, organised crime, terrorism, intelligence, policing and the military capabilities of the British Armed Forces. He frequently writes about the Channel migration crisis utilising contacts around the World. In 2020, Michael was shortlisted for the Cudlipp Award for his investigation into child trafficking in Afghanistan. Michael revealed how children are being tortured and abused after trying to cross from Afghanistan into Iran. He has appeared on LBC radio to discuss criminal justice issues, the Channel crisis and the war in Ukraine. Prior to joining the Daily Express as a Reporter in July 2016, Michael served as a Reporter at the Watford Observer from March 2014 to December 2015, before being promoted to Senior Reporter.
