BILLIE EILISH has come under fire for comments she didn't make in an interview that didn't happen, and her brother Finneas couldn't help but step in and defend her.

Billie Eilish has been doing a lot of press over the last few months to promote her new album, Happier Than Ever. The singer's second album has been hotly anticipated since the release of her debut record, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? which went multiplatinum and sold more than five million copies worldwide. One recent interview claimed Billie "wanted to be poor".
In a report posted by the Twitter account Billie Eilish Updates (@BilliesUpdatess), the young star was quoted as saying "she cried when she got rich and wanted to be poor so [she] can relate to most of [her] fans".
Another "Billie" quote read: "I still want to be broke and poor, it looks really fun and cute."
Billie and Finneas' fans called the Twitter account out, declaring it was a "fake" interview.
Eventually, Finneas had to break his silence and set the record straight.

Fake obviously. Honestly I just wish they’d label this account satire like the onion or something. I have no problem with a joke as long as people know it’s a joke https://t.co/0GaH40SblV

Finneas retweeted the claims the interview wasn't genuine before adding: "Fake obviously.
"Honestly I just wish they’d label this account satire like the onion or something."
The 24-year-old frustratedly added: "I have no problem with a joke as long as people know it’s a joke."
His irritation with the account didn't last long, however.

The good news for Billie and Finneas has continued into the week with the release of their second album, Happier Than Ever.
The album has been highly praised already, with The Guardian's Alexis Petridis saying: "The melodies and vocals are uniformly great."
Billie thinks so too. Speaking to Apple Music's Zane Lowe, she said: "It’s much better [than When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?]. I mean listen, it’s a lot of work."

Billie continued: "Also, when you want to give your album a life, and a big one and you want people to listen, you’ve got to do stuff to make that happen.
"You’ve got to do shoots and shoots and shoots. And all of the things.
"And it’s been a pretty punishing couple of weeks, I got to tell you. I have cried probably 30 times."
She added: "Probably, I’ve cried more in the last two weeks than I have in my whole life."
Billie also spoke candidly about how her new album was influenced by her experiences with therapy.
She said: "I love therapy. Everybody should go to therapy, absolutely ... I have therapy once a week too, and I am so happy to.
"I genuinely believe that everyone, every human on earth should go to therapy, whether you feel this or that about your life, if you’re happy or anything. Anyone should go, even if they think their life is just amazing and perfect, and nothing’s wrong. Every single person should go.
"And I think it helps my creative process because it makes me not word vomit, and it makes me not have everything up here. It makes me talk through things, and then I think about them constantly."
Billie Eilish Happier Than Ever is out now.
