Battlefield 1 Official Launch Trailer
Battlefield 1 developer EA were recently forced to apologise for something other than the state of the game's servers.
The Battlefield 1 social media team tried to get the hashtag #justWWIthings trending on Twitter.
In one of the tweets, an in-game soldier can be brandishing a flamethrower with the caption: "When you're too hot for the club."
Some fans took exception to the hashtag, accusing EA of being insensitive and disrecpectful to victims of a war that claimed 17 million lives.
EA would later apologise for the Twitter campaign, telling followers: "We would like to apologise for any offence caused by content in the last 24 hours posted on the @Battlefield Twitter account.
"It did not treat the World War 1 era with the respect and sensitivity that we have strived to maintain with the game and our communications."
