UPDATE: The PS Plus Extra and Premium games have been announced by Sony, and it's not good! Available from the morning of September 17, the Extra line-up is headlined by brand new release The Plucky Squire. It will be joined by Under The Waves, Night in the Woods, Chernobylite, Wild Card Football, Space Engineers, Road 96, Ben 10 and Far Cry 5. PS Plus Premium games include Pistol Whip for PSVR 2, Secret Agent Clank for PSP, plus Sky Gunner and Mister Mosquito for PS2.

ORIGINAL: Just days after the release of the PS Plus Essentials for September, Sony is back with another big PlayStation Plus games announcement, only this time for Premium and Extra subscribers. Unless Sony breaks tradition and holds a surprise State of Play event (which is possible if the recent PS5 Pro rumours are to be believed), the next batch of PS Plus Extra and Premium games will be unveiled on the afternoon of September 11. Featuring around a dozen PS4, PS5, PlayStation classics and PSVR 2 games, the new releases will be available to download and play the following week, on the morning of September 17. As we count down the days until the official reveal, subscribers are convinced they've figured out the identity of at least some of the games joining PS Plus Extra in September.

In the monthly predictions thread over on Reddit, PS Plus Extra subscribers believe Atomic Heart will join the line-up on September 17.

Atomic Heart also featured heavily in the PS Plus Essentials predictions, but ultimately didn't make the cut.

However, with the unique action-adventure game recently leaving Games with Gold, users think some kind of PS Plus release is inevitable.

Another game with multiple picks is Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League. Despite only launching back in January, Suicide Squad has massively underperformed, to the point that developer Rocksteady just laid off a number of employees.

Featuring a live service model and seasonal content, publisher Warner Bros could use PS Plus Extra as a way of attracting more players, which could lead to the sale of additional Battle Passes and cosmetics.

It's been a while since Sony added a really big first-party blockbuster to PS Plus Extra, which makes me think that God of War Ragnarok could finally make its debut on the service in September.

Other first-party games featured in the predictions thread include The Last of Us: Part 1, The Last of Us 2 and Gran Turismo 7.

That's on top of all the usual suspects, including Forspoken, Sonic Frontiers, Nier Automata, Hades and Dead Island 2.

High on Life also gets a lot of mentions, alongside the likes of Dead Space Remake, Robocop and various LEGO releases.

Bizarrely, Final Fantasy 16 is one of the most picked games on the thread, although it still feels far too soon for such a high-profile game.

Final Fantasy 16 adopts a slightly darker tone to its predecessors, feeling more like Game of Thrones-lite than a traditional FF game.

Other games on the list include Far Cry 5, The Stanley Parable, Resident Evil Village, Kingdom Come Deliverance and Stray.

Some joker even mentioned Concord, which might have actually been a better option for Sony rather than killing it altogether.
