Xbox Game Pass goes free if you already have this other gaming service
Discord Nitro members are getting a tier of Xbox Game Pass rolled in free of charge starting from today - here's what's included.
Xbox has announced a partnership with another popular gaming service that could see some users get access to 50 games, completely free of charge.
Gamers will no doubt be familiar with Discord, a text and voice chat service that connects millions of gamers around the world while playing games online. It has a Nitro service that costs £9.99 per month, granting access to a bunch of customisation features as well as the ability to upload larger files in text chats.
A partnership between Xbox and Discord has now bundled in the most basic tier of Game Pass into the service. So, if you’re already a Nitro member and don’t already have Game Pass, you’ll now be able to access 50 games at no additional cost.

The Game Pass tier in question is the most basic of the bunch – Essential.
Priced at £6.99 monthly, this tier provides access to over 50 games on Xbox and PC. Highlights include Batman Arkham Knight, Control, and Fallout 4.
Sadly, this tier doesn’t include brand new Xbox games. If you want to play the likes of Mixtape, which we reviewed here, you’ll need to jump up to the Ultimate tier, which starts at £16.99 per month.
At £9.99, the bundling of Xbox Game Pass Essential makes the Discord Nitro tier much more attractive for those who use both services. Discord is available to use as a voice service on Xbox too, so it’s not just limited to PC players.
It’ll be up to you to decide whether the extra £3 per month is worth it for the additional Discord features. Personally, I don’t see much benefit from paying for customisation features, although the ability to upload larger files is a huge benefit for those who regularly share gameplay clips with their mates.
