ORIGINAL: Fortnite season 6 is fast approaching bringing with it new skins, challenges and possible map changes with the next Battle Pass for Battle Royale.
The Fortnite season 6 release date and start time is drawing near with Epic Games set to launch their big Battle Royale update.
Much mystery surrounds what is coming with Fortnite season 6 but there are plenty of rumours about what’s planned with the new Battle Pass.
This week teasers have been dropped about what’s coming with Fortnite season 6 on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS, PCs and Macs.
Each day the official Twitter account for Fortnite has posted teasers hinting at what Fortnite season 6 will bring to the Battle Royale table.
But despite this mystery still surrounds what Fortnite season 6 holds for Battle Royale fans and what the next Battle Pass theme could be.
Ahead of the Fortnite season 6 release date Express.co.uk has rounded up everything you need to know about the new Battle Pass.
We have details on the Fortnite season 6 start time, skins, server downtime, leaks and possible map changes sparked by the Fortnite cube.
FORTNITE SEASON 6 - WHEN IS THE RELEASE DATE? WHAT IS THE START TIME?
On Friday the official Fortnite Twitter account confirmed the Fortnite season 6 release date.
Fortnite season 6 will launch on Thursday September 27 on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Android, iOS, PCs and Macs.
The official Fortnite Twitter account posted: “Season 6 is now dropping from the Battle Bus on September 27.
“Celebrate its arrival and unlock those final Battle Pass rewards with an additional 400% Match XP all weekend, from now until September 24 at 8 AM ET (1200 GMT). Glide into the party!”
In terms of a release time, Epic Games are yet to confirm the time that Fortnite season 6 will launch at.
But looking at past Battle Pass launches may give an indication of when Fortnite season 6 will be out.
With the previous Fortnite season launch the hit Battle Royale game went offline at 9am BST to prepare for the rollout of the upcoming Battle Pass.
Express.co.uk expects that to be the case again with the Fortnite season 6 release date.
FORTNITE SEASON 6 - HAVE ANY NEW SKINS BEEN REVEALED? HAVE ANY FORTNITE SEASON 6 SKINS BEEN LEAKED?
Fortnite fans look to have been given a glimpse of a few of the Fortnite season 6 skins coming after the Battle Royale update launches.
On Monday and Tuesday Fortnite season 6 teasers were posted which both appeared to show brand new skins.
The Fortnite season 6 teaser on Monday showed a DJ llama while the one on Tuesday showed a bandito cowgirl.
These look like new Fortnite season 6 cosmetics and the DJ llama could be one of the Battle Pass starter skins.
The first Fortnite season 5 teaser Epic Games released before the new Battle Pass launch showcased the Drift skin for the Battle Pass.
And fans have been left wondering whether this DJ llama will be one of the starter skins for those who purchase the Fortnite season 6 Battle Pass.
The Fortnite Battle Royale Leaks Twitter account posted: “Similar to how Season 5 was teased with the Drift (First BP Skin) The Season 6 Teaser shows some Disco/Party Llama.
“This could be the first Season 6 BP customizable skin, also what @NickEh30 mentioned, the headsets may be a customizable “hat” as Hats have been leaked in the past.”
Also, last week Epic Games and Nintendo unveiled a brand new Fortnite-themed Nintendo Switch bundle.
This Fortnite bundle includes the exclusive Double Helix set which consists of a unique character outfit, back bling, glider and pickaxe.
And with the bundle being sold from early October, which is after the new Battle Pass launch, it looks like the Double-Helix is a new Fortnite season 6 skin.
FORTNITE SEASON 6 - COULD WE SEE ANY MAP CHANGES WITH FORTNITE SEASON 6? WILL THE REMAINS OF THE FORTNITE CUBE AT LOOT LAKE PLAY A PART?
The Fortnite season 6 teasers, besides showing new skins, have all shown the Fortnite cube, the lightning that spawned it, and the runes it left behind.
This all seems to be heavily hinting that the Fortnite cube will play a role in the events that spark Fortnite season 6.
So what could that be?
Before the Fortnite cube melted into Loot Lake last Wednesday (September 19), it had long been rumoured the Fortnite cube would cause a volcano to spawn at Loot Lake.
It was also rumoured that Loot Lake would be turned into a lava-filled area.
Could this volcano still emerge from the purple layer that is currently covering Loot Lake?
Alternatively, maybe the Fortnite cube will somehow transport players into an alternative reality - another popular rumour.
And in this mirror universe could different areas of the Fortnite Battle Royale map be based on different eras in history?
If that’s the case, then one long-rumoured Fortnite location could have been inadvertently confirmed.
On Friday the official Fortnite Twitter account posted a teaser for the new Valkyrie outfit and Frostwing glider.
The cosmetics have a distinct fantasy vibe to it, but fans noticed one thing particularly interesting about these teasers.
The Valykrie skin can be seen in the Fortnite teaser sitting on a throne with the Frostwing glider right by it.
It’s led to speculation that this could be a brief glimpse inside a new castle POI coming with Fortnite season 6.
While the second Fortnite season 6 teaser, revealed on Tuesday, which showed a cowgirl could hint at an incoming Wild West point of interest.
FORTNITE SEASON 6 - WILL THERE BE SERVER DOWNTIME? HOW LONG ARE SERVERS LIKELY TO BE DOWN FOR?
Epic Games has not officially confirmed yet whether there will be server downtime before the launch of Fortnite season 6.
But it’s highly likely given that Epic Games tends to take Fortnite down ahead of the rollout of major updates.
And a brand new season is the biggest kind of update that Fortnite can get.
Express.co.uk expects Fortnite servers to go down at 9am BST on the Fortnite season 6 release date.
For those in other time zones, that would be 4am eastern time and 1am pacific.
An official announcement about Fortnite server downtime is also expected before the launch of Fortnite season 6.
Ahead of the rollout of a Fortnite update servers tend to go down for between one to three hours.
It wouldn't be a surprise to see Fortnite servers go down for around three hours on the Fortnite season 6 release day.
