This year marks ten years since the first Iron Man movie was released, kicking off the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Fans may remember a more selfish, womanising Tony Stark who has since grown and developed over his seven movie-run as the character thus far.
However Joe Robert Cole, who co-wrote the latest Marvel outing Black Panther with director Ryan Coogler, has slammed the character as originally portrayed and asked if Iron Man would be acceptable by audiences today.
According to NME, he said: “Think about where we are now, with this very vapid, unintelligent president and our world is crackling on the edges because of that.”

Iron Man was released 10 years ago – would it still be acceptable today?
Cole continued: “Think back to Tony Stark, him being douchey and being okay.”
“If that character, Stark, was created in a movie today, I wonder if the response would be like, ‘Oh, it’s cool that he’s douchey and disrespectful to women … That’s fine.’
“I think we’re at a different place. I think it’s a better place.”
Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr who plays Iron Man, has teased Avengers Infinity War deaths.
