The Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson-led movie was released over the weekend, tying in with Valentine’s Day on Wednesday.
Fifty Shades Freed was slammed by the critics, earning just 11% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, but would this affect the film’s box office takings?
Last week Box Office Pro predicted the film would make no more than $40 million at the US box office.
Now the domestic and international figures are in.

Fifty Shades Freed made $38.8 million
While Fifty Shades Freed topped the US box office, it only made $38.8 million.
This is much less than the other two films made, with Fifty Shades Darker earning $46 million and the original Fifty Shades of Grey on $85 million.
Overseas the film managed around $98.1 million, taking the global total to $136.9 million.
Meanwhile Peter Rabbit debuted at No 2 with $25 million and Clint Eastwood’s The 15:17 to Paris at No 3 taking $12.6 million.

The there’s Jumanji and The Greatest Showman, which were both released in December, and are still hanging in there at No 4 and No 5.
Incredibly Jumanji topped the US box office last week, having been out for weeks, while The Greatest Showman did the same in the UK.
