It movie: Director reveals the secret behind the HORROR of Pennywise the Clown
THE director of It has revealed what makes Bill Skarsgard such a horrifying Pennywise in the new movie.
Andy Muschietti, left, directed It
After a huge opening weekend at the box office, the film - based on Stephen King’s story - is continuing to scare audiences around the globe.
Director Andy Muschietti explained what it was about Skarsgard’s performance that made him such a perfect fit.
"Each scene where Pennywise intervenes, Bill provided a new flavour to each take because he was part of the concept of making this monster unpredictable,” he said, according to Sunday World.
“And Bill doesn't shy away from the exploration of that. He is so brave in that sense.

“And it was fun for him to surprise me and surprise himself and surprise everyone with new stuff.
“And it was, we even discussed with him before shooting we said, 'Let's go crazy.'"
It seems that scenes were filmed multiple times so that different takes could be used in different ways in the editing suite.
"Because there is something in the core of this monster that we want to capture It's ability, so we do different things and different behaviours and different takes that might amount to something very unique when we put the scene together,” Muschietti said.
