Cars 3 reviews are SHOCKING - for one very surprising reason
CARS 3 has been judged by film critics ahead of its international release date - and there’s a very surprising verdict.

It seems that, contrary to expectations, the new film has come in for general praise.
Cars has been a very successful series for Disney and Pixar but it’s safe to say that the critics have not been enthusiastic.
Whilst the likes of Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles have received upwards of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, the first Cars film got 74%.
Cars 2 fared even worse, with a 39% score - but it seems Cars 3 is a surprisingly decent effort.

The film stars the voice of Owen Wilson
Den of Geek said: "Cars 3 is a much more pleasant and positive comeback for the series, even if these movies about anthropomorphic automobiles will never quite reach the top tier of Pixar quality.”
IndieWire gushed: “Considering that it's a second sequel in a less-than-revered franchise, it's a minor miracle that Cars 3 hits the finish line with a fresh sense of purpose."
The Hollywood Reporter agreed: “"Like its predecessors, the film is visually quite splendid and, especially for an animated feature, stirringly well lit, most notably in a racing sequence set along a photo-realistic beach during golden hour and another on a vividly moonlit night.”
Seattle Times beamed: “Solid storytelling, a longtime strength of the best Pixar pictures, elevates "Cars 3" into the pantheon with the studio's finest.”
The film follows the poor reviews for its two predecessors
It wasn’t all good news, though.
Entertainment Weekly shrugged: “[Director Brian] Fee steers Cars 3 like the sleek piece of movie machinery it is - a standard ride with a half-full tank, a gorgeous paint job, and not much at all under the hood.”
USA Today also gave a mixed response, saying: “Some punny lines are painful ... and the plot doesn't even pretend to be unpredictable. But Cars 3 at least tries to put a little extra in the tank this time around.”
Cars 3 is out on June 25 in the UK.
