Guess which actor was told he was ‘too FAT’ to play The Blob in X-Men Origins: Wolverine?
THE BLOB in X-Men Origins: Wolverine is, as his name suggests, a large character - but which famous actor was fat-shamed when he auditioned?
Who was turned away from playing The Blob because of his size?
It’s David Harbour, the star of Stranger Things, who was told that “health” concerns kept movie bosses from signing him up.
Speaking to The Wrap, he recalled a chat with the casting director: "She was like, 'Yeah it's like an X-Men, he's like big, fat and controls gravity', and I was like, 'Okay, wow, that's flattering'.
“And she was like, 'No, no, it's not that you're fat, it's just that we need a big guy to wear the suit’.”
However, when it came to formally trying out for the part, things got even more uncomfortable.

He told how he lifted his shirt, squeezed his belly and said, “I got your blob right there!”
But he later had a chat with the director, Gavin Hood, who passed on some bad news.
"They called me and the director, we met at a hotel, and he was like, 'David, look, you're wonderful, we really think you're just a great actor, we're just concerned’.
"I was like, 'Why, what's your concern? I'm good to go. I'm available, let's do this'.
