Baywatch movie to FLOP at the box office after bad reviews?
BAYWATCH is reportedly on course for a very disappointing launch weekend at the US box office.
Baywatch's new film is out in the UK on Monday
The R-rated movie, inspired by the 1990s TV show, was initially forecast to scoop around $40 million over Memorial Day weekend, with some estimates even nudging it towards $50 million.
It will, however, land at around half that: $26.1 million, according to Deadline.
It comes after a disappointing opening of $6m on Wednesday - and a swathe of terrible reviews.
The movie has a measly 18% ‘Fresh’ rating on the site, although at 72% the audience score is slightly better.

Reviews have been abysmal for the TV-to-movie reboot
Critics pulled no punches: Rolling Stone dubbed the movie “one big fat wallow in instant stupid”, while Toronto Star said: “Ever sat in a wet bathing suit for a prolonged period? It's uncomfortable. Sitting through Baywatch feels like that.”
Time magazine were slightly more positive, reasoning: “This new Baywatch is lightweight, a tiny bit crude and a trillion grains of sand away from anything approaching realism.
“But it's also a lot of fun.”
Kelly Rohrbach, who plays CJ Parker - made famous in the TV show by Pamela Anderson - recently revealed the changes made to the character.

“I really felt like I owned it,” she told W magazine, admitting that changes were made to the script when she felt CJ was coming across too “dismissive”.
"I tried to make her less of an object and more of a person.”
Baywatch is out in the UK on May 29.
