Oscars SHOCK: Academy Awards will still use PwC accountants after Best Picture mix up
OSCARS bosses have decided to stick with PwC accountancy firm despite this year’s Best Picture blunder with La La Land and Moonlight.
La La Land incorrectly named as best picture at the Oscars
The biggest night in Hollywood was met with the biggest Oscar blunder in the Academy’s history.
Following PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) accountancy firm’s mistake of giving Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway the wrong winner envelope – which resulted in La La Land instead of Moonlight being announced the winner – the Academy has decided to stick with them.
PwC are the responsible for counting Oscar members’ votes and preparing the envelopes for the ceremony.
Now Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs has written to members announcing new rules, including the banning of electronic devices backstage.

No doubt this refers to PwC’s Brian Cullinan being distracted by posting photos on Twitter, instead of focusing on handing the right envelopes out.
In her letter, Boone Isaacs wrote: “From the night of the ceremony through today, PwC has taken full responsibility for the mistake.
“After a thorough review, including an extensive presentation of revised protocols and ambitious controls, the board has decided to continue working with PwC.”
The members voted on the new protocols as part of an Oscars shake-up earlier this week.
Brian Cullinan and Martha Ruiz of PwC accountants
The news that the Academy will stick with the firm comes after Cullinan and fellow PwC accountant Martha Ruiz were told they would never cover the Oscars again.
The accountancy firm has admitted that their two representatives made a series of mistakes by not following backstage rules.
