Marvel shock: Mads Mikkelsen WALKED OUT of audition for WHICH movie before Doctor Strange?
MADS MIKKELSEN may have starred in Doctor Strange but was very nearly in the Marvel canon much sooner. Can you guess the film he walked out of his audition for?
Mads Mikkelsen auditioned for Fantastic Four
The star, who has appeared in Star Wars: Rogue One and been a chilling James Bond villain in Casino Royale, was very nearly in one of the least popular films to be based on Marvel comics.
Fantastic Four was remade in 2015 and, it seems, Mikkelsen tried out for a part.
In a new interview, he revealed he was seen for Victor Von Doom, a role that ultimately went to Tony Kebbell.
"I think I said, 'I can't do it. It's not about you. I'm sorry, this is wrong,’” he recalled to ShortList.
Fantastic Four was a big flop upon its release
The Danish actor has appeared in a wide range of roles
I think I said, 'I can't do it. It's not about you'
It’s just one of “tons” of bad auditions the Danish 51-year-old says he’s had.
"We've all been there,” he said. “We all show up and it's a little office room with a desk and they want you to do a scene where you have two lines - maybe even just a 'Bleurgh!' or 'Get Back!' - and you're hiding behind a palm tree that's not there.
“It's like, 'Guys, couldn't you have picked a different scene? This is mad.' You feel like an idiot."
Mikkelsen did end up joining the Marvel family, courtesy of Doctor Strange, in which he played Kaecilius opposite Benedict Cumberbatch.
Plans for a sequel to Fantastic Four have gone quiet

Starring Miles Teller, Michael B Jordan and Kate Mara, Fantastic Four was lambasted upon its release and ‘won’ four Razzie Awards.
A sequel had been planned but was removed from Fox’s release schedule in November 2015.
Kebbell said he would only returned if Doom could join the MCU, saying: "Truth is, Doom is an incredible bad guy. They just keep trying to force him into the Fantastic Four...Doom is a monster, but you know my Doom was not, so there's that.”
In other Marvel news, it seems a third instalment for Guardians Of The Galaxy is now confirmed.
