Planning a sequel? The Matrix cast REUNITE 18 years after boundary-breaking movie
THE MATRIX’S key stars were reunited last night, 18 years after the 1999 movie first hit cinemas.
The Matrix was released in 1999 starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Laurence Fisburne
Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne and Carrie-Anne Moss were spotted back in each-other’s company last night at the premiere of John Wick 2, in which Reeves stars.
In a photo posted on the movie’s official Twitter feed, a caption read: “Neo. Trinity. Morpheus. #TheMatrix reunites at the #JohnWick2 premiere!”
The Matrix is so far one of relatively few huge classic movies that have avoided the reboot, remake or years-later sequel treatment.
As it stands, its two sequels - The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions (both 2003) - were the last outings the characters had, and there have been no whispers of anything else since.

Fishburne joins Reeves in the new John Wick film, reportedly after asking outright for a part.
“It was so cool to have a chance to work with Laurence Fishburne again, with the history that we have professionally and personally,” Reeves told EW.
“I ran into him, and he was saying that he was a fan of the first film, and was there anything in the second film. I said, ‘As a matter of fact there is!’”

Moss too has remained busy since her Matrix days; starring in films such as Pompeii (2014), Silent Hill: Revelation (2012) and Disturbia (2007).
It’s television, though, where she has been most at home: she starred in Vegas from 2012-13 and is currently in Jessica Jones and Humans.
John Wick: Chapter 2 is out on February 17 in the UK.
