Liam Neeson has spoken out about Taken 4 plans
The 64-year-old action star has played Bryan Mills across three Taken films in 2008.
While 2014’s Taken 3 was a box office hit, the threequel suffered terribly with critics giving just 11% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
Now with news of a Taken prequel TV series hitting small screens in 2017, fans have been anxiously waiting for Neeson to speak out about Taken 4.
The actor appeared last week on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where the host brought up the possibility of yet another sequel.
Liam Neeson previously said he would never make Taken 3, only for it to happen two years later
Colbert asked: “Is there any chance there’s gonna be a fourth?”
Neeson, who almost played James Bond, replied: “No, there’s not. There’s only so many times your daughter can be taken.”
The actor then joked: “Actually if we do have another it will be, ‘Please can you take my daughter?’”
While the news may disappoint fans of the franchise, Neeson’s words should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Back in 2012 following the release of Taken 2, the star was asked by Empire about the possibility of a Taken 3, which Neeson gave a very similar answer to.
He said: “I don't see [a third film being made]. I don't think it's going to happen. I really don’t.”
“I can't see a possible scenario where audiences wouldn't go, 'Oh, come on! She's taken again?’”
Clive Standen will star in 2017's Taken prequel TV series
Nevertheless two years later he was back in action, so assuming the new TV series is a success perhaps Neeson will return.
The Taken TV series is a prequel to the first film with Clive Standen playing a younger version of Mills, Neeson’s character.
The new show will air on NBC in the US in late February 2017.
