A Downton Abbey film script has already been written
After months of speculation following the hit ITV series’ conclusion last year, it looks like the film is finally going ahead.
The 36-year-old actress who played maid Anna Bates revealed the news on This Morning.
She said: “We’ve all heard this rumour – the cast – that the script has been written.
“There’s a hard copy somewhere but none of us have seen it or know what’s in it.”

Joanne, who stars in new thriller Liar, added: “So we’ll all keep our fingers crossed that it all comes together. We’re all willing it to happen.
“I’d absolutely jump at the chance to star in it if I’m asked. I’ll squeeze it in.”
Lord Fellowes, who’s written the script, has previously admitted he thinks getting the cast back together could be difficult.
He said: “Let’s just say it’s not me slowing things down.
“The difficulty is rounding up the actors. One is in America making a new series, another is in a play… my lips are sealed.”
Despite the busyness of former cast members, Lord Fellowes is adamant the film will happen.
The writer added: “It’s very unlikely there won’t be a film because there is an audience for it.
“I do hope there is going to be a Downton Abbey film.
“It’s going to be fun once everything is sorted but we just need to restructure it.”
Maggie Smith is rumoured to have already signed up for new film
Earlier this year there were reports that Dame Maggie Smith had signed on for the movie to reprise her role as the Dowager Countess, Violet Crawley.
Michael Fox, who played one of the servants, previously said how important it was to have her return.
He said: “The film without her would still be good with all the other actors, but it puts a stamp of quality with her in it.”
However in September the 81-year-old actress appeared on The Graham Norton Show where she said returning just didn’t make sense because of her old age.
