'Not interested unless I can play Darth Vader' David Prowse hits out at Star Wars bosses
THE British actor who played the original Darth Vader says he is "not the slightest bit interested" in the new films - unless he gets to play the part again.
David Prowse says it's Darth Vader or nothing at all
Former bodybuilder David Prowse shot to fame in the 1970s as the man behind the mask of the iconic movie villain.
But he was dumped from the role when Vader's face was finally revealed in the 1983 film Return of the Jedi and was replaced by British stage actor Sebastian Shaw.
Prowse, of Southmead, Bristol, went on to become the face of road safety as the Green Cross Code man and has since criticised subsequent Star Wars films.
But despite the hype surrounding the release of The Force Awakens in December, the 80-year-old former actor has not even seen the trailers.
Star Wars: then and now
Prowse is only interested in the new Star Wars films if he can be the villain
If they're putting somebody else in Darth Vader's mask, then I'm not the slightest bit interested
He said: "I haven't seen it at all. No. I've seen nothing about it whatsoever. No. No."
When asked if he is interested in the first Disney production in the saga, he said: "It depends if I'm playing the part of Darth Vader init? Yes - then I'd be very interested.
