Life Of Crime review: A dark and animated tale of Elmore Leonard's novel ‘The Switch’
LIFE Of Crime is one of the better adaptations of an Elmore Leonard novel although that is hardly a rousing recommendation.
Director: Daniel Schechter
Starring: Jennifer Aniston and Isla Fisher
Cert 12A, 94 mins
There is at least a strong flavour of the writer’s flair for dialogue and laconic capers as a misfit trio in 1970s Detroit kidnap millionaire’s wife Mickey (Jennifer Aniston).
Ordell (Yasiin Bey), Louis (John Hawkes) and the grotesque, Nazi-obsessed Richard (Mark Boone Jr) demand a million dollar ransom.
They don’t realise that hubby Frank (Tim Robbins) is only too happy to ignore them and clear the way for a new life with his conniving mistress Melanie (Isla Fisher).
A darkly amusing tale begins promisingly but runs out of wit and energy long before the closing credits.
