Star Trek: Into Darkness writer apologises for 'gratuitous' Alice Eve underwear scene
THE writer of Star Trek: Into Darkness has apologised for a 'gratuitous' scene of sexy British actress Alice Eve in her underwear.
Damon Lindelof, who has worked with director JJ Abrams on a number of projects, took to Twitter to express his regret of the scene.
The 40-year-old addressed the shot of the 31-year-old actress after being quizzed about whether it was necessary in an interview with MTV.
On Twitter Lindelof said: "I copped to the fact that we should have done a better job of not being gratuitous in our representation of a barely clothed actress.
"We also had Kirk shirtless in underpants in both movies. Do not want to make light of something that some construe as mysogenistic.
"What I'm saying is I hear you, I take responsibility and will be more mindful in the future."
The scene shows the British beauty in a set of blue lingerie with highlights her cleavage and toned tummy.
So far the actress has not commented on the scene.
